Graduation Ceremony + My Birthday

The Graduation ceremony for us year twelves was held in UWA's Winthrop Hall. We had a few minutes to talk to friends and put our sashes on and pin them down in place and do the same for our friends who was having trouble with their sashes. I got my sash from Mr. Maughan (my Senior English teacher) and met my TAG form teacher Mr. Hunter again for the umpteenth time. The graduation ceremony didn't include us students wearing funny hats like I thought (which was a real bummer) and the talks (done inevitably by Zolanda Zaw and Jason Beverage) took way too long for the liking of both myself and my parents (my parents were of course in the audience, but I couldn't see any one of them and where they were sitting). After all the other forms were done getting their graduation portfolios, it was our form's turn (TAG E.06, one of the last TAG groups). As Alex went up there (because I was placed after him) to receive his portfolio, it was my turn, I couldn't really walk because my legs had literally turned to wood and my heart was pounding. After the whole ceremony it was revealed that little or no pictures of me and Krysia getting our portfolios was taken because a certain someone had trouble with finding the "button that makes it work" on the camera and my sister was outside of the Hall and at the other side of the lake. My mum was angry at her for going missing on the rest of us. The feeling of having graduated is something of a weird one to me, even if it has been two days past.

My birthday was a shopping spree in Perth and a buffet dinner at Miss Maud's after. It was nice, but both me and my sister thought that "birthday surprise" was going to be something different. I got the recent Supernature album by Goldfrapp, The Sandman: The Dream Hunters comic, a googly-eyed panda keyring and a medium sized Tolberone chocolate. At least it wasn't as bad as my sixteenth birthday, so I should be grateful for that.

Thanks for the late birthday wishing. Unfortunately for the graduation, they still have the same school band and singers to songs. Too bad they didn't get actual professionals to do that bit and for the "supper" it was just juice, tea or coffee and a sandwich, so we all went to the nearest Maccas for dinner.

Driving Woes

I started okay earlier during my driving lesson today but as time went on and it got too difficult I started to make a lot of mistakes (like every five minutes). The problem is that I don't react quickly enough and "look ahead" at the traffic when driving there's other drivers around me going different ways. The driving instructor also says that she's getting little or no feedback from me because when it comes to interacting with people I tend to not get too close to them or I go and talk to them at all. I'm afraid of asking questions because either people don't listen to me or they listen and don't answer at all. I remembered distinctly that I had a lot of problems trying to do the driving exercise about finding the particular house-number (experienced drivers should be familiar with this one) and the exercise where you've forgotten something at a friend's house and you have to turn back somehow to go back (either by U-turn or going into a stranger's driveway and reversing). I think I'm going to take a long time getting these problematic exercises correctly done.

Family Reunion + Panda Hunt

Out of every "family reunion" I've attended, the one yesterday was the best one ever! It was held in Mandurah, Cicerellos. The aunt and uncle that I wasn't really fond of didn't come there to spoil everything either, which was good. It was good conversations and humor all around which made the event better. Before going there to attend the family gathering, we stopped at thew local shopping center to get a present for one of my aunts (because it was her birthday) and after seeing a guy in a panda suit me and my dad went panda hunting so that I can get myself a balloon and some lollies. The sole purpose of the guy-in-the-panda-suit thing was for McHappy Day.

Perthiness

Went to Perth for the umpteenth time today. I got myself another comic for the stash with is the fifth volume of the Doll series of manga by Mitsukazu Mihara. It reminds my a lot of the movie Artificial Inteligence by Stephen Spielberg with less gloominess in it, but just as good. The artwork for the Doll series is also as good as the artwork done by Masamune Shirow. In perth we went to many sunglasses selling stores to find a suiting pair for my sister who is always having trouble looking for one that suits, because most of them make her look bug-eyed. Her boyfriend was nice enough (even if he might have Tafe afterwards) to tag along with us (more like, dragged along) to other stores such as Sportsgirl and Jay-jay's and eventually, City Surf. We also went together to Cannington as well to look around there before going back on the Armadale line, only to end up in the dreaded Thornlie Station, getting from the Thornlie Station to Beckenham and back to Kelmscott, which was quite a hassle. All in all, I had a fun day and so did they.

Art Wars: Revenge of the Sketches

I have two weeks to go before the submission of my art folio for Tafe, yup, two weeks. After getting the "Dutch Uncle" for very badly shaded drawings of a mobile phone and a book, I decided to rip the two pieces of not-so-well-done artwork and start over with a drawing of two apples as part of the requirements for submitting the art folio. The drawings of the two apples itself came out okay for someone else's approval, but then comes the part that I hate the most when drawing things... shading. I work on the computer for most of my art pieces with photo editing programs, so I'm not very good at dealing with pencil and paper media and the concept of shading, which is proving to be quite a difficult task for one such as myself. I even considered giving up on the whole thing because of the frustration of starting over. I only have two things to work on though, which is better than having four things to work on and I don't have to do the writing bits required for these first two pieces of artwork which is required to be drawn by hand rather than done on the computer. I realized also that there is only a few days to go before my official Graduation Ceremony and my birthday the day after, yay!

Ball Dress Hunt

After two days of searching and trying on many dresses, I finally found one that I liked! We had to go from Carousel to Perth just to find both the dress and the shoes. I spent all of the money which would've happened anyway because shopping in Perth is like amputating both arms and half a leg to get things. Instead of opting for my usual color, which is black, I went for brown this time which is still a dark color since wearing lighter colors than that bothers the hell out of me. I hope the school teachers don't mind me wearing the dress to the ball because it doesn't reach the ground (like the ridiculous "rules" say for clothing regulations). But I'm hoping my squeaky-clean record of not getting suspended or anything covers it.

My Life Episode XVI¾: The Attack of the Grades

I'm worried a little, but the grades that I received today in the mail stated that I passed. I ended up getting all C's in the report. Even though it states that I have passed, I still felt sad about it. I've got a feeling that next year isn't going to be to good. Anyway, on a another topic that Photograph song by (I forgot the band's name) is starting to get to me on account of that I am officially out of high school for good. Damn it. At least I didn't have one D in the report from the Big Mac's class because he changed it from a very possible D to a C. Must've been the exam we all took on Interactive Media that did the trick.

I thought I was going to get one D, I was afraid to open the envelope, until my sister grabbed the offending letter and opened it. But all is well now, how about you?
