The Vision of Escaflowne

I've watched a few episodes of The Vision of Escaflowne and I didn't enjoy watching it. I thought it would be as good as watching Witch Hunter Robin (which was created by the same group, Sunrise) but my expectations of the series is not so good. For one thing, the main character Hitomi Kanzaki who does fortune-telling as a hobby, despite her strangeness is a hollow character. I had hoped that her character development would prevent her from becoming a background character (because it's starting to seem that way). The music composed by the well-known Japanese composer Yoko Kanno is top-notch despite the spotted flaws in the series, giving the series my decent rating of 3/5. I just hope that this series would become better as it progresses and doesn't end as bad as Scryed did.

Scryed started okay I guess, even if the characters are a tad cliché, but to me the ending was... bad. It ended like something from Dragonball Z. The word verification is to prevent internet ads from appearing here and prevents spam as well, because I've seen ads on comments in the blogs of other people, so I decided to pull the word verification up as a defence.

The Dark Lord of the Sith and the Jedi Friend

The end to the school week was alright. During fourth session I talked to Ivan about the men's bracelet he was looking for on the internet and also science fiction topics such as Dr.Who (the new and old) and Star Wars (which he allies with the Jedi, much to my annoyance). I should consider myself thankful that Her Bitchiness Mrs. Fenner wasn't taking notice of our later science fiction themed conversation which I think was deliberate of her ignoring us because she pays attention to the girls sitting at the other side of the room. As we switched to the topic of his jewellery searching once more I showed him my necklace (which has a haematite ankh pendant)and asked him if it was possible to engrave it with a symbol or a saying. He said it was possible because of haematite being metal (I know it was a stupid question to ask) because I would like to engrave it with something and I'm scared if it will shatter and break. During lunch time the Talent Quest was won by two lower school students which I'm suprised because usually they'll do jack-nothing but run around, playing chasey and scream a lot during that time of the day. At least the Talent Quest from the Small Business class is doing better than us. I think that this year's Small Business assignment won't be as good as the same one we did last year, except that we did it with pizza muffins and pretzels and a different group of people too.

On another note, I found a layout which I wanted to decorate this site with, but the comment option was a pain so I thought, Ah, screw it! and I might add word verification on this blog on accounts of seeing adverts from different websites masked as comments in the blogs of my friends.

Station Change

Today I ended up going up to the new Thornlie station instead of going all the way to Kelmscott train station because of the stupid last-minute route alterations, of which I had to wait for someone to pick me up because apparently I must catch a train to go back to the Armadale line and plus today is the day where I feel like shit because of catching the cold for the third time this year. I had to clamp my mouth up most of the time after I cough just to stop the food digested previously from escaping and for me to not throw up the food. This week hasn't been very good for me in terms of health, and the school isn't taking notice because some students in there are like myself. Tch.

New Driver

During driving today I had to re-learn the basics thanks to that damned Celica (thanks Jonas for pointing out the car type)which involves doing a different type of steering (push-and-pull, which is apparently ranked as old-school and obsolete)and getting used to the gears (the change from 1st to 2nd is a pain in this car). The gear change is for lazy people though because unlike the previous car I drove in (which I think was a Hyundai) I didn't have to push, pull and shove that much. During the driving I noticed that the instructor sped worse than me when we were turning. The instrictor said that I should practice the pull-and-push steering routine when I watch TV just to get better at it. Strangely, the instructor keeps on reminding me of a character from Fat Pizza for some reason... Maybe its the gold jewellery, the hat and the clothing he wears. I still think that my previous instructor (which is on holiday at the moment) is better and nicer than the new one I got for my lesson today and last Thursday.

I've been taught how to palm it before, but I have a habit of "grabbing" the gearstick if you know what I mean.

And that means trying to change from third gear (but this is in the damned Celica)to second gear but ending up at first gear instead or neutral and stalling the car if I'm not careful.

Busy, Busy

I have a report to do in Senior English on the topic of terrorism (many people asked me why I'm doing such a topic for a report, I just wanted the away-from-the-norm topic, something that doesn't sound like a report topic cliché) luckily the due date has been moved from Tuesday to Friday giving me heaps of time for drafts and whatnot. I'm dreading my driving lessons tomorrow on the account of having a different driver complete with a different car. (the interior is like some sports car)Despite the appearance of the car, it is a beast to change gears in. But than again, I have to get used to this sports car... Eep!

I think that's the car I've used last Thursday, only that the color wasn't white. I remembered the new driving instructor saying something about Rotary having two cars: one is a Hyundai and one a Celica. Grreat, now I have to master the gear stick all over again!

Saturday

We watched the Fantastic Four last night and did something for once instead of staying cooped up at home and anyway, there's no more new Dr. Who because the last episode (and a great finish to season one at that) ended a few weeks ago. I found the movie last night to be alright but not great, I swear something was missing in the story of it all, my inner writer says. Although it's not as cheesy as Shark-boy and Lava Girl. Oh, how I cringed! What is it with people these days and cheesy movies *shivers* Anyway, just to warn readers that I might be changing the layout of this blog anytime soon.

Nothing Much, How About You?

Like the title says, nothing much is happening at the moment. I happened to visit two long-time friends from primary school yesterday and both me and my sister walked with them to McDonalds and Farmer Jacks and Armadale for old times' sake and also going to our primary school and explore it for a while and talking about the things that began with "Remember when..." Some things have changed, other things remain the same. Now that I look back, it's scary because all of us have grown so fast that it seems too quick. A year seems like an eternity when your in it, but when you look back if feels like it just finished in a blink.
